PERTEX® QUANTUM

Windproof, soft to the touch and 100% recycled. PERTEX® QUANTUM is constructed in a tightly woven structure to provide windproof protection and trap still air inside the smock.The fabric is lightweight, packable and soft to the touch. Finished with a non-fluorocarbon water repellent which allows the fabric to shed light rain and snow, allowing the smock to provide weather protection in adverse conditions.The fabric is constructed using highly abrasion resistant nylon ripstop, incorporating reinforcement yarns to provide durable resistance to tearing, helping the fabric to withstand harsh mountain environments.

  • What has changed with the updated version of the Extreme?

    The Extreme range has been updated to feature a 100% recycled outer fabric. The Montane logo has been updated to a solid colour. There have been slight adjustments to the seams for a better fit and increased durability. The elbow area has been reduced in size for a neater fit. On the Extreme Smock the removable crotch strap is no longer a feature.

    Back to basics

    I’ve had my Extreme Smock for over 15 years, I’d never used it for several years and brought it out for a trip to Wasdale last week, May 26. I wore it for over 10 hours on a long and cold windy day. It was warm when I needed it and cool on the ascents down to the easy venting of the front and back. I don’t know why I’ve ignored for so many years. Whilst a friend was layering and delayering frequently, I was content to zip up and down at ease. Great product.

    Extreme smock

    Took advice and got large size, normally medium. Better for taking on and off. Fits well. Wish it were waterproof not just showerproof. Used for dog walking and rambling in colder days. Warm enough with just base layer on. Wool pile inner keeps me nice and warm. Expensive but expect it to last for years.

    Quality Build

    Having had my smock for a couple of months I am very happy with the outstanding quality and looks. I'm looking forward to wearing it in more extreme weather in 6-7 months' time when it gets cold again (and when I'm in the Atlas mountains), so will have to wait to see how it holds up to lashings of cold winds and rain.
