As 2025 draws to a close, we're looking back on the incredible achievements, overcome challenges and moments of triumph from our Montane athletes.

Tom Hollins

Faced full winter conditions to claim a fastest known time on the self-supported Winter Wainwright Round. A huge display of endurance, resilience and precision in the Lake District fells.

Time: 8 days, 9 hours, 44 minutes

Distance: 500 km

Ascent: 36,000 m+

Robyn Cassidy

Fought her way to second place in the women’s Winter Spine Race, one of Britain’s most brutal endurance events, testing athletes against distance, sleep deprivation and extreme weather.

Time: 94 hours, 31 minutes

Distance: 431 km

Ascent: 10,000 m+

The Turner Twins

Summited Mera Peak wearing original 1924 expedition kit alongside modern Montane equipment, offering a powerful insight into how far mountaineering has evolved over the past 100 years.

Summit altitude: 6,476 m

Victoria Thompson

Delivered a blistering performance at the Summer Spine Sprint South, breaking the women’s course record, finishing first woman and second overall, and smashing the previous record by more than 40 minutes.

Time: 7 hours, 40 minutes

Distance: 74 km

Ascent: 2,017 m

Tasha Brook

Worked alongside the Slava Topol Project to provide vital medical support and rescue capability on Lenin Peak, contributing to expedition operations in a demanding high-altitude environment.

Summit altitude: 7,134 m

Dougal Tavener

Skied the Sofiarenna Couloir in Lungen, Norway, committing to a steep, technical line where precision and confidence were non-negotiable.

Gradient: 45–50%

Descent: 700 m

Jon Shield

Claimed second place at the Cape Wrath Ultra, an eight-day battle through some of the wildest and most remote terrain in Scotland. Consistency, grit and determination from start to finish.
