How to wash hiking trousers & shorts
In addition, a durable water repellent (DWR) finish allows the fabric to shed light rain and snow, allowing the product to provide better weather protection in unpredictable conditions.

How do I wash my Montane legwear?
Please note for waterproof legwear you should follow the instructions on our Waterproof Aftercare page.
1. Check the wash care label
All Montane clothing and equipment comes with instructions on the care labels. Take a look at these and follow this advice.
2. Close all zips
Make sure to remove any items from your pockets and close up all open zips, any Velcro, and a belt if there is one.
3. Place your legwear in the washing machine
We recommend using a non-biological detergent and no fabric softener. Following the temperature on the care label, once clean run a service (or rinse) cycle to remove any excess detergent.
4. Drying directions
To minimise energy use we suggest line drying, or if using a tumble dryer please use a low heat. Do not iron trims.

How do I care for my Montane legwear?
Some legwear products are treated with a durable water repellant (DWR) finish, to help shed light rain showers. If you think this needs rejuvenating, you can spray the outside of the product with a reputable DWR re-proofer. Suppliers for re-proofers include Grangers, Nikwax, Storm and Fibertec. Make sure your product is fully clean and re-proof while still wet. Once applied, dry according to care label instructions. Tumble drying on a low heat may help to activate the DWR (please check the instructions on the bottle).
