Fantastic warm layer (straight comparison with Patagonia R1/ R2).
This is a great bit of kit. I normally buy Patagonia R1 and R2 techface tops but I’m finding the fit a bit boxy of late so came across this! Warmth wise it’s between an R1 and R2, very cosy, decent stretch and you’ll not want to take it off! The fleece face fabric is again somewhere between an R1 and R2, it’s hard wearing and holds heat when static but also soft and breathable in use. It’s my layer for running and hiking and I combine this with a light shell for versatility or a warmer jacket like the Fireball Lite when the temperatures drop really low.
I’ve found this to be a really useful bit of kit and because it fits nicely between the R1 and R2 and I’ve found myaelf reaching for this in preference and it’s way better value for money.
The highlight of this garment is the unbelievably good hood. It is brilliant, the fit and shape is excellent under a helmet or shell hood and on its own it stays put and doesn’t slide around or get in the way.
The not so great. It’s so thin in the cuff that I couldn’t roll/ pull up the sleeve more than a few inches which was a little annoying with a big running watch but not a deal breaker by any means.
My wishlist, thumb hole cuffs would be awesome but apart from that it is a brilliant brilliant bit of gear. 🙌
