GREEN FRIDAY

In a year that has taught us more than ever what is actually important, we are ripping up the Black Friday playbook and will be donating our Black Friday marketing budget to the European Outdoor Conservation Association. Since our founding in 1993, we've aimed to achieve the highest standards of performance in our products at the same time as maintaining a responsible approach to our business - of which this is just the most recent. In July 2019, we started our repair service, furthering our commitment to creating long-lasting products.

Extending the lifetime of a product diminishes the impacts associated with production by spreading them over a longer timeframe, cutting down landfill in the process.

From reducing the environmental impact of the materials we use to demanding the highest ethical standards in our supply chain, our journey towards sustainability is ongoing. We have been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) since October 2019 - an independent, non-profit organisation that works with brands and manufacturers to improve labour conditions and worker’s rights in the global textile and apparel manufacturing industry.

We are proud to work with some of the leading technical apparel and equipment factories in the industry, many of which we’ve partnered with since the very beginning. We only work with manufacturers who respect both our standards, and the rights and well-being of the people who make our products.

Our products are made for wild and extreme environments, so we’re bound to the survival and ongoing maintenance of these places. Through our support of the European Outdoor Conservation Association and our partnership with the British Mountaineering Council, we are constantly looking for ways to proactively look after our wild spaces.

Our recent collaboration with the British Mountaineering Council was inspired by the relaxed, no-nonsense style of climbers who spend all day at the crag. Montane donated 5% of MONTANE X BMC sales in the UK to the BMC’s charity; the Access & Conservation Trust (ACT) supporting ‘The Climate Project’ which helps to recover the English moors through peat bog restoration.
