Introducing Emily Law

Emily enjoys spending every second she can out at crags across Snowdonia after she fell in love with climbing as a teenager. Originally she grew up climbing on the tough Gritstone of the Peak District, whereas now she calls the crags of North Wales home. The varied climbing there She has also enjoyed living abroad in Spain, particularly around the Valencia and Catalunya provinces, over the last couple of years to further pursue her passion for climbing (and love for sunshine!).

She enjoys sport climbing for its hard moves and flow, and trad climbing for its bold adventure! Her love for trad climbing has allowed her to explore the harder mental battles many climbers face around fear, failure, and goal-setting. Her interest in testing her mental resilience after learning to manage a fear of falling. This process took many years, and even now she still has to keep working on it. However, now she is in a place where she can push herself. This has led her to climb many routes with bold run-out routes with tiny thin holds and even thinner gear. Over time, she has learned to embrace uncertain outcomes in order to climb with no expectations but always the best intentions. This personal exploration has led her to understand the mental fortitude she has is one of her biggest strengths in climbing. Since then, with the support of Montane, Sense Films produced a film all about Emily's journey with these hard mental battles called 'Free to Fall'.

In her free time around climbing Emily enjoys reading, particularly about Folklore and Ancient Welsh Literature, coasteering the sea-cliffs, cycling, and exploring the local hills.

Emily hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams, learn from failure, and always keep trying hard to achieve their dreams.

Spending everyday outside climbing or coaching means my kit needs to stand up to everything thrown at it and protect me from everything the weather could throw back me! I love that their kit is super versatile, whether I need cool and breathable kit in the hot Spanish sun, or warm, cosy waterproof layers on rainy hill days I know it’s got me covered. I can always focus on maximising fun and totally immerse myself in pushing my physical and mental limits at the crag. - Emily Law
